Exploring Trails near Boston

JoVanna at Trailhead

On my way to a conference in New Hampshire, I was picking up a friend at the Boston Airport. Since I had a few hours to kill and I had been stuck in JoVanna for 24-hours, I was itching to go for a run. I decided to do some exploring of trails near Boston. Doing a quick Google search on my last break led me to Hamlen Woods Trail.

I didn’t exactly know what I was in for when I started, but the trail was beautiful. There were many stone walls throughout the trail, along with many steep climbs. After about 3 miles on the trail, I came to the Mainstone Farm Trailhead. I wasn’t quite sure where to go from there. Referencing the map at the trailhead, I saw that the red trail continued further down on Rice Road. I began heading in the direction of the Hamlen Woods Trailhead. The trail picked up again on the opposit side of the road in the southeast corner of the St. Philopateer and St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church parking lot. This section of the trail had the steepest climbs before winding back down to the Hamlen Woods Trailhead.
