Pre-Session Kite Music

Typically we listen to some music on the way to the beach in our custom built adventure van. The stereo system in our van is obsolete for sure and lacks the niceties of a subwoofer or amplifier, but it still gets the job done. We also take a portable bluetooth speaker with us almost everywhere we go.

Beauty On the Water

However, when I am on the water I like to take it all in without music as a distraction. To me music is a good motivator beforehand, but not so much while on the water.

It is nice to be able to hear what is going on around you as you cut between swells and listen to the wind against the kite. Likewise, there is nothing more peaceful than the quiet that comes from kiting on a foil board as the foil silently slices through the water with ease.

Post-Session Music “Wind Down”

After a kite session, we typically enjoy music that is a little more relaxed and mellow, such as “Redemption Son”- by Bob Marley or even “Over the Rainbow”- by Israel “IZ” Kamakawiwo’ole. There are some really good chill surf mixes out there.

Also, Jade will often get the acoustic guitar out once we get back to our campsite to practice a few riffs. The tone of music after kiteboarding is noticeably different post-session.
