Van Flip-up Tables

One of our favorite design decisions we made in our custom van build was adding flip-up tables. These add a lot of surface area for things like phones, water bottles, books, computers, etc. without permanently losing space to move around.

Nightstands

We have a total of four flip-up tables in our campervan. We use two smaller tables on each side of the bed as nightstands to hold phones, eyeglasses, books and water bottles at night.

Cooking and Working

The other two flip-up tables are larger and act as extensions to our counter-tops for larger working/cooking areas. The only downside is that the size of the table can be somewhat limited due to the amount of weight that it can hold. But they are great for smaller items.

When the tables are not in use, they easily fold down and out of the way. They lock vertically in place without needing to be removed or stored (unlike a table with a pedestal and permanent floor mount). It is great having quick access to additional table space without sacrificing mobility within the van or having to find additional places to store them when not in use.

Adding Flip-up Tables

Flip-up tables are also cheap to put together and easy to install. For each table we used left over wood and paint from building out the bed and cupboards. The Folding Shelf Brackets come in a pack of four (two 12″ brackets per table). We ordered ours on Amazon for $30. After cutting, sanding, and painting the wood, we installed them as needed.
