Visiting Pentwater Michigan

Visiting Pentwater Michigan

There are many small, lovely coastal towns along Lake Michigan. This summer we had the pleasure of traveling the western coast of Michigan for 10-days in our camper van (JoVanna), exploring new kite spots and bike routes!

We did a similar trip in 2020, however this time we wanted to visit a few different towns instead. Our first stop was the fun and quaint village of Pentwater.

Places to Stay in Pentwater

Since we were traveling in our camper van, we stayed at Mears State Park directly on the beach. The campsites all have picnic tables, fire pits and 30 Amp hook ups. There are also clean showers and restrooms!

Also, don’t miss the beautiful views from the trails leading to the top of the nearby dunes.

There are also at least a dozen homes for rent on AirBnB if you are looking for a little more space!

Places to Eat in Pentwater

We didn’t eat out much in Pentwater as we prefer to cook most of our own meals. Although, we did ride our OneWheels into town for a post ODRAM celebration ice cream at the Pentwater Dari Creme.

Things to do in Pentwater

We were in Pentwater for two days and one night, so we only had the opportunity to do a few things.

  • Walk the trail on top of the sand dune at Mears State Park
  • OneWheel into town and near the light house
  • Watch the sunset at the beach
  • Run around the town and through the marinas
  • Drive to Little Sable Point Lighthouse and explore
  • Watch the start of a Sailboat race (regatta)

Final Thoughts on Visiting Pentwater Michigan

Although we were only in Pentwater for a few days, we had a great time and plan to go back.

What we loved most about Pentwater is its size and proximity to other great places. Pentwater is just south of Ludington and just north of the Silver Lake Sand Dunes.

When we travel, we prefer to stay in quieter villages over larger bustling tourist destinations. Pentwater was peaceful while still offering a lot to do for everyone!

Hope you have a chance to visit Pentwater next summer!

Enjoyed your post. Pentwater was one of our first stops when we did the Shoreline West a few years ago. Very nice! One of the riders in our group was a lighthouse lover so the lighthouse at Pentwater was the first of many lighthouses we stopped at.
